PFAS Communities
The international network of communities living with PFAS, the ‘forever chemicals’, and the wider contamination that comes with them.
What it is
PFAS are a large family of man-made chemicals, often called forever chemicals because they break down very slowly. Communities living with them often find they are dealing with other contamination from the same sites as well. This network connects those communities across the world, so a group that is starting out can find others who have been through the same thing.
PFAS Communities UK is the UK network and is itself a member of this network, so a UK group is part of both.
It is a network of community groups, not of individuals. It is free, and no money is asked for or handled.
How it works
- A public directory. We keep a shared, public list of groups.
- Listed first, from public information. We add a group as Listed only from public sources we have checked. Each entry links to its source and shows the date we checked it.
- Member when the group says so. A group becomes a Member when it asks to join. Members can then show a badge on their own site that links back to the directory.
Listed and Member
Listed
Compiled by us from public information. The group has not (yet) confirmed it. Shows the public source and the date checked.
If it is your group, you can confirm it, correct it, or ask us to remove it.
Member
The group itself has asked to join. It controls its entry and can show a membership badge.
No group has joined yet apart from the founding member, Hillhouse Watch, which started this network.
Today the directory has 1 member and 41 listed groups. We would rather publish a short, checked list than a long one we cannot stand behind.
Who can join
Membership is free and open to resident-led and community groups. NGOs are welcome as supporters.
